Senior Director, Diversity and Inclusion (m/f/d)

Purpose

The Senior Director of Diversity & Inclusion will drive the global Diversity & Inclusion strategy for adidas.  Acting as a change agent for the implementation of D&I initiatives, the Senior Director will oversee the Global Diversity & Inclusion Team to ensure leaders across the organization are driving D&I best practices.

Key Accountabilities

  • Drive the further development of global Diversity & Inclusion innovation, concepts, strategies and implementation
  • Build and enhance initiatives to support hiring, retention and development of diverse talent through active research and benchmarking
  • Create alignment and continuity across senior management, internal customers, the Global Diversity & Inclusion Team, external service contractors, community organizations and governments to ensure accountability
  • Underline and drive relevance of Diversity & Inclusion through strong communication and transparency in close collaboration with internal and external Communication teams
  • Establish, track, report and analyze company diversity metrics to measure effectiveness against set HR KPIs
  • Manage the Global Diversity & Inclusion Team providing strategic guidance and empowering them to coach leaders across the organization to bring awareness, support and advocacy for global D&I programs and initiatives
  • Ensure access to company-wide D&I training
  • Report progress periodically and on request to executive leadership (Board, HRSLT)

Knowledge, Capabilities and Experience

  • Deep interest for the field of Diversity & Inclusion
  • Progressive experience in a multinational company with experience in leading Diversity & Inclusion teams, projects and initiatives
  • Direct experience in a branded, consumer-facing industry
  • Knowledge of global, contemporary diversity and inclusion concepts and critical metrics
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proven experience leading international teams  
  • Service-minded and global thinker, networker, customer/consumer focus, end-to-end thinker, international mind-set
  • Proven experience leading change in large organizations
  • Excellent convincing and influencing skills, leading and running complex projects across multiple departments and countries
  • Quickly builds credibility with senior management demonstrating high emotional intelligence
  • Resilient and deals effectively with difficult situations, negotiates persuasively, has a clear opinion and conveys ideas to the point
  • Initiates and develops productive relationships based on trust and credibility
  • Strong integrator skills, such as a keen interest and ability to build connections among people that goes beyond support
  • A willingness to listen, observe and learn from teams and individuals, a value base that recognizes and celebrates the diverse abilities of people
  • Capability to reduce complexity and to identify/manage dependencies
  • Very strong analytical and conceptual thinking and expertise in HR strategy and organization
  • Strong business insight:  Has validated project management experience with high levels of business and process knowledge
  • Capability to build further understanding in strategic HR topics
  • Ability to work in and thrive in a changing business environment.

Qualifications

  1. University degree in Business or related field
  2. Advanced studies in HR, change, project or process management a plus
  3. 10+ years of progressive experience; with at least 5 years of experience in Diversity & Inclusion
  4. 5+ years of experience in successful partnering with Employee Resource Groups
  5. International, cross-functional and intercultural experience
  6. Strong project management skills, certification a plus
  7. Consistent track record of leading and implementing large-scale global or regional programs and projects
  8. Experience leading highly functional teams
  9. Knowledge and experience in strategic workforce management preferred
  10. English fluent (written and spoken), German is a plus
  11. Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Project
