Design Director Brand Expression (Brooklyn Farm)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organisation

  • Create annual look, feel, tone strategies that establish direction for Brand Expression,
  • resulting in consumer-facing work across all Expression touchpoints that is industry-leading and generates brand heat
  • Develop connected and holistic direction through collaboration across creative direction, to ensure we add up to one clear, compelling and relevant brand
  • Strategise and develop the core verbal and visual story for Future Innovation concepts that will be used across the brand; deliver direction that sets the foundation for consumer-facing communication
  • Develop, deliver, and evangelise the standard for brand tone of voice, which sets the direction for Brand Expression and Communications, Retail and Digital channels

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop annual brand expression ideas and direction that fulfill brand and creative direction goals
  • Create and deliver the tools that enable teams to fulfill brand expression creative direction
  • Clarify and craft the core story components (verbal and visual) for Innovation concepts, to ensure brand cohesiveness and consumer-centricity and relevance
  • Create and deliver guidance tools for Innovation concepts that enable teams to implement
  • Collaborate with creative direction peers (c,m,g,bcf,be) on the development of annual and seasonal creative direction
  • Collaborate with brand expression peers to ensure cohesive creative direction across brand expression touchpoints
  • Colaborate with Future and Strategy members in the shaping of Innovation stories
  • Collaborate with Advanced Directors to ensure effective  communication , collaboration, best practices, and connected advanced Expression
  • Adapt team direction and priorities to meet changing business needs or priorities
  • Identify opportunities of improvement and change, and initiate own proposals/projects; pursue ideas, methods, resources that nurture an ever effective creative and leading Design team
  • Manage respective operating and marketing working budgets
  • Through Design, bring to life long term brand direction/attributes (Belief, Obsession, Mission, Positioning and Creative Direction)
  • Live and drive brand behaviors, breaking down silos – encouraging a collective brand approach.
  • Create and foster community through organized activities, sharing, social events etc.
  • Provide leadership to a confident, collaborative, and creative workforce and provide the platform for long-term, (cross)-functional careers
  • Partner with and influence key stakeholders within the Brands matrix organization for effective and cohesive brand image-building
  • Provide direction – input and evaluation of output - of external partners
  • Seek out Design resources who are culturally relevant, deliver newness; and direct variety of creative resources (agencies, freelancers, writers, photographers, etc) on creative execution to ensure holistic creative excellence

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications

  1. University degree or the equivalent in Graphic Design, Art Direction, Advertising, Copywriting, related
  2. At least 10 years work experience in Creative/Design, inhouse or agency experience
  3. At least 5 years’ experience in leading a creative team
  4. Passion for adidas and it’s mission
  5. Passion for sports, culture, design, creative
