VP Buying

Shanghai | China (Peoples Republic of) | Retail (Back Office)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

Build accurate order and efficient assortment planning and merchandising to achieve top line and bottom line growth:

 - To drive increase ATV/ UPT, FP sales and ST

 - Right product, right time, right place

 - New category/ new product implementation strategy by store type and segmentation

Key Responsibilities:   

  • Formulate short, mid, and long-term Own Retail buying and Franchise ( BLR)  Buying strategies for adidas China in conjunction with CTC, BU, Channel Category Sales  and Retail operations team.
  • Lead the team to deliver Own Retail buying & Franchise Buying targets;
  • Influence BU on the range for China and CTC on assortment planning
  • Work closely with Product, Marketing and Visual Marketing team to ensure timely product launch to stores;
  • Work closely with Retail Operations and Franchise Operations to driving the sell-through with recommended action plan;
  • Develop buying team workforce planning and continuously drive capability development to support business growth;
  • Drive technology applications and development of efficient and effective processes and tools across retail and franchise buying teams;
  • Recommend and manage overall Retail Buying related OTB budget, Markdowns and ST
  • Set performance targets and development plans with direct reports;
  • Assist on other tasks or projects assigned by SVP Retail.

  • Proven leadership and managerial skills
  • High degree of commercial and business acumen knowledge

  • Strong Strategic as well as analytical skills
  • High personal impact and high communication skills

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15 years of work experience in Retail Merchandising or buying related field.
  • Possess good fashion sense and consumer trend
  • Fluent English required; Mandarin skills a plus
