Vice President Sales - Central Europe (m/f/d)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organisation:

To ensure sustainable and profitable market share and net sales growth in Cluster Central Europe while driving the positioning of the adidas Group brands (adidas & Reebok) by wholesale distribution channels in line with the European Brand & Channel strategy.                                                                                                                                                                                              

Key Responsibilities:

  •      To implement the short, medium and long-term Central Europe wholesale strategy and principles specific to the individual sales channel in line with the European wholesale strategy  

•       To interpret the European wholesale strategy and ambitions into functional targets for the wholesale Sales department and measure performance on the set KPIs 

•       To implement the European strategic initiatives in key cities with key customers and in key categories according to relevant key city activation program

        •       To actively contribute to the development of the Central Europe go-to market strategy

        •       To be an active member of the Central Europe Management team in all cross-functional matters

•       To contribute to development of the European wholesale strategy and policies within the VP Sales community and represent the interests of the Cluster

        •       Document channel-specific best practices and tools and share across all markets

•       To land brand concepts in key locations/doors and ensure best representation of the adidas Group brands

•       To negotiate and implement trade terms according to the respective Global/Europe wholesale policies

        •       To ensure all Sales departments comply to Europe sales strategies, policies and best practices

        •       To own and drive the monthly sales forecast process in line with Europe business planning process 

        •       To ensure effective cost controls of the respective cost centers under his/her management

        •       Take full accountability for the achievement of the annual sales target and even exceed targets

        •       Actively support direct reports to ensure that established and new accounts are developed

•       Take ownership in improving existing sales function; assessing performance and driving the necessary changes required to create a high-performing sales team


•       To manage, recruit and develop sales and customer service organization to achieve all relevant targets and to provide best in class service

•       To staff most suitable persons in direct report positions in alignment with the VP & GM Central Europe / HRD

•       To inspire, lead and drive a performance culture within the sales and customer service teams

•       To set personal objectives, targets, guidelines and assess all reports

•       To manage key talents' career and succession planning

•       To develop the functional and core skill of direct reports through regular 1-2-1’s coaching and mentoring

•       Develop, train and retain key talents

        •       Experienced wholesale background

        •       Strategic leadership experience is vital to succeed

        •       Proven leadership and managerial skills

        •       High degree of commercial and business acumen

        •       Negotiation skills, composure and representation abilities

        •       Strong strategic as well as operational skills

        •       High personal impact and high communication skills

        •       Results oriented

        •       Strong visionary and leadership skills

        •       Strong Team Player with proven ability to work cross functionally to achieve goals and objectives

        •       Ability to influence partners across other functional groups to build consensus and understanding

        •       Strong interpersonal skills (e.g. communication, negotiation)

        •       Mental flexibility, initiative and determination

        •       Fluent in written and spoken English is a must. Other languages are an added plus.

        •       Energetic, driven, motivated, inspirational and convincing skills

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

        •       Minimum 8-10 years of commercial leadership roles within large sales organization in consumer goods industry

        •       Strong people management skills and proven track record in commercial achievements

        •       Preferable experience in sporting goods / retail / consumer goods industry

        •       University degree in business administration

        •       Proven track record in change management

        •       Successful multi-year experience on market level
