Production Artist II

Purpose:   Executes design direction for the brand through final presentation visuals.  Collaborates with design and marketing to set direction for color and all presentation formats and confirm that all material embellishment standards are met per design.  Function as a specialist setting up licensed graphics for handoff to collateral, DI, licensing and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Create basic and complex line art (FSA), color cads (formats) for apparel and headwear.
  • Create production kits for apparel and headwear.
    • Includes placements for additional silhouettes,
    • Manufacturing guides to fulfill non-screen print graphic completion.
  • Create, establish, maintain and nurture the design direction of final presentations through Licensing, customer satisfaction and manufacturing excellence.
  • Create recipes for youth and women’s licensed graphics.
  • Submit files through the required proofing processes and deliver licensing files in the required deliverable per league entity.
    • Meet milestones for art reviews following all league rules and edit accordingly within established SLAs.
    • Deliver Lic submission files following all league rules and edit accordingly within established SLAs.
  • Collaborates with design, marketing and development regarding color schemes, color stories and placements based on broad spectrum of silhouette range.
    • Know product offering and manufacturability for graphic placement intent.
    • Drive the color story that meets our team/league standards and color alignment across graphic offering.
  • Acts as a color consultant to marketing PLMs, designers, key accounts, collateral, manufacturing and subsidiaries.
    • Utilize skills to design art files that meet adidas standards, team and quality expectations.
  • Own and track project status by partnering with development, marketing and design.  Follow through to the end of the project by troubleshooting and facilitating changes.
    • Accept design handoff and Merchandising direction, providing input for correct deliverables.
    • Track projects to complete all milestones against established seasonal calendars.
  • Archive and distribute final, correct designs and design kits to both internal and external partners.
    • Load and provide detailed timeline input on AEM to reflect iteration.
    • Submit all Color Cads / formats to proofing for internal review
    • Provide Color Cads to external factories to meet contracting demands for apparel and headwear production.
  • Perform research, proofread all art files and consult with art leads for further guidance.
  • Create visual presentations for internal and external needs.
    • Full Size art reviews as needed for inline projects
    • Licensing boards as needed for inline projects
    • Embellishment reference guide
    • Color Cads / formats
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by management.

 Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess strong skills on the MAC platform and be highly skilled in Adobe Illustrator
  • Must be proficient in typography, Bridge, Photoshop and InDesign
  • General knowledge of Microsoft office suite. Ability to reconcile data using Excel.
  • Knowledge of screen print production a plus. Preference will go to those candidates with relevant experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, write business correspondence and communicate effectively.
  • Strong work ethic, quick learner and excited to work with a fast-paced team
  • Quality and detail of work is extremely important.
  • Requires minimal direction and can work independently.
  • Flexible nature with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks/activities simultaneously.
  • Positive “can do” attitude while maintaining a high level of professionalism and can take direction well.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Able to coordinate differing opinions and create collaboration from conflict.
  • Excellent customer service and teaming skills.

 Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: 

  • 2-year degree from accredited art school
  • 2 years related experience and/or training
