Director, Womens Merchant

Purpose

The Director, Women's Merchant brings cross category products and experiences to life for our female consumers. This role develops, leads, and drives strategies to ensure our product ranges for women are industry leading and brand defining to continuously exceed financial goals and expectations of our female customers. While developing the vision of the work, the Director drives collaboration across the matrixed organization and holds global stakeholders accountable to execute and deliver results that drive our women’s business.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Drive the success of the Women’s business; ensure global stakeholders are executing short-term initiatives in alignment with seasonal and long-term Women’s strategies, define global expectations and set success metrics/KPIs to drive accountability across functional groups
  • Lead operations of the cross-functional team and drive collaboration across categories including global and market merchandising/CTC teams, visual merchandising, sales, product, marketing, design, and other brand teams to drive well-informed assortment strategies to ensure a holistic, premium, differentiated and elevated marketplace for Women
  • Develop, deliver and execute compelling assortments and stories that drive the Women’s business across the brand in service to the consumer
  • Deliver the Women’s go-to-market strategy for global markets and partner with regional merchandising teams to execute against the strategy
  • Take insights (qualitative and quantitative) and execute a strategic assortment plan against the category vision and KPIs to deliver relevant products to our female consumers
  • Communicate the seasonal Women’s merchandising vision and ensure seasonal strategies tie to long-term goals; provide a commercially balanced assortment strategy across categories for the store, online and wholesale experiences
  • Change future strategies with the end in mind; identify growth opportunities in women’s products/channels, within markets or through activations, and galvanize the cross-functional team to react quickly to customer and business trends

  • Thinks strategically, conceptually and creatively with ability to articulate a vision that is sharable by all key stakeholders
  • Agility to navigate between operating strategically and tactically to drive execution
  • Willingness and ability to dive into consumer analytics, balancing art with science to identify areas of the business that need attention
  • Consumer centric; drives decisions based on our customers wants/needs while considering the impact and implications on other areas of the organization when making decisions
  • Strong retail acumen and proven merchandising, including visual merchandising, capabilities both in owned stores and in partner spaces
  • Excellent team orientation and interpersonal skills with ability to build strong cross functional partnerships and work the matrix to achieve growth goals
  • Proven ability to lead senior cross-functional teams and effectively scope, manage, and execute projects end-to-end
  • Pro-active self-starter; comfortable working independently and in ambiguous environments
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Understanding of product creation, design, development and go-to-market processes
  • Ability to respond with speed and agility
  • Strong presentation, listening, verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree required (or equivalent), preferably in Marketing, Business, or related field
  2. Minimum 10 years of experience in footwear/apparel merchandising, buying or integrated retail related role
