Director Distribution Operations PMO NAM

  • Develop, lead and deliver strategic Distribution Operations projects/programs, from planning to execution, within a Distribution Center and/or across the NAM Distribution Network
  • Lead Distribution Operations Head Office to enable business success in the areas of portfolio management, project demand management, strategy definition & execution, and communication & engagement
  • Initiate, drive and consult on change management activities to effectively transform the organization against defined targets
  • Support and drive innovation and continuous improvement opportunities within the network
  • Drive and guide project managers, sponsors, business owners in planning, execution and tracking initiatives, while providing deep-dive support on select initiatives

Key Responsibilities

Project/Program Management

  • Lead and manage to successfully deliver Distribution projects/programs, end-to-end, ideally through effectively applying relevant methodology
  • Raise scope ambiguity with Senior Leadership, seek clarity to design detailed project plans and roadmaps
  • Manage the execution and completion of the defined project plans/roadmaps through effectively coordinating people and resources
  • Monitor the project variables (cost, effort, scope, etc.) against the project plan in order to implement corrective or preventative actions
  • Lead change management for respective projects/programs and ensure changes are smoothly and successfully implemented to achieve lasting benefits
  • Finalize all activities across the projects/programs to formally close and hand over the project, ensuring project documents are approved, completed, maintained, and stored appropriately
Management & Planning
  • Alignment with department head to ensure projects are focused on the right strategic initiatives and priorities
  • Coordinate and manage initiative development, planning and prioritization across functions
  • Establish and lead Distribution Operations Head Office function to support portfolio and demand management, strategic planning and communication & engagement across the department
  • Prepare key presentations and targeted stakeholder communication with strong storytelling for various audiences, including senior management
  • Define communication strategies and execute plans on key topics or events


  • Drive team through budget management, business case modelling, cost/return estimations, analytics (as required) and project benefits
  • Establish project controlling within the projects to verify and control the project costs on time in full. Ensure continuous availability of the project cost status. Apply appropriate methods for project controlling, e.g. risk analysis, simulation calculations, target-actual comparison
  • Manage budgets through tracking and reporting the monthly budget accruals and variances and ensure timely and accurate invoicing

People Management

  • Develop and lead the project/program team to fulfil its mission and targets
  • Manage, coach, develop and train project team members, input into performance reviews, provide feedback and allocate work considering complexity and experience level
  • Identify and manage relationships with key stakeholders and build a broader network map

  • Strong grasp of Supply Chain and functional operating principles
  • Big picture thinker with strong commercial and business acumen
  • Strong experience in managing complex projects and work on several projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) with proven ability to motivate, network and influence across business levels effectively
  • Proven ability to deal with complexity and translate topics into digestible communication
  • Pro-active (engaging & impact-oriented) mindset, ability to think end-to-end with a global mindset
  • Able to develop trusting, collaborate relationships with partners
  • Ability to coach, guide and manage a (project) team
  • Ability to be self-directed while working under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with different international cultures, navigate a matrix organization and operate cross-functionally
  • Comfortable working closely and facilitating with senior executives
  • Ability to travel, domestic or international, as required
  • Well developed ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Advanced skills of MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Smartsheet


  1. Four-year college or university degree with focus on Business Administration, Supply Chain or related areas, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  2. Minimum of 8+ years of progressive work experience in project management, preferably in a related industry
  3. Strong experience with managing complex Distribution Center projects
  4. 2–3 years of experience in managing a team
