Purpose:

Support the VP Sourcing Operations to develop an optimization algorithm and tool for product allocation (i.e. optimizing for landed cost, availability, etc).  This work is part of the Digital Creation End-to-End initiative, a Board priority for the remainder of teh 2020 Strategic Business Plan.

Key Responsibilities and Projects:

- design and setup structured and efficient workflow to create demand/source/capacity overview by aggregating various xls inputs incl. test and ensure data integrity

- design scoring function to combine various allocation metrics such as product cost and duty, product availability, risk, etc.

- design efficeint algorithm (e.g. monte carlo) to optimize the scoring function incl. defintion of suitable boundary conditions

- design and build optimization tool that is suitable to be embedded into the monthly business process

deliver process & tools ready for business use as outlined above

key learnings:  understand the FTW allocation process and how analytics can help to reinvent industries

Exposure to key factories

Required main study courses:

Computer Science or similar

Preferred university/ discipline:

computer science

programming / development experience

Required language skills:

English

Additional skills/ qualifications:

Python required (alternative programming languages can be discussed)

Alteryx experience a plus

Excel / Powerpoint knowledge expected

Structured thinking

Clear communication

Student must be enrolled at the university for the complete duration of the internship

This is a 6 months full-time internship
