Director Test Management (m/f)

The Director - Test Management will be leading a team of test managers. He or she will be responsible for facilitating, leading and managing all test activities in his or her area of responsibility. The role includes executing strategies, governance, structure, and programs in order to deliver test services to the organization.

Key Accountabilities

  • Managing a team of Test Managers
  • Implementing standard processes across all projects within the segment
  • Operating alongside the Test Manages to test project plans across functions; providing resource estimates and establishing tasks and schedules; prioritizing and delegating tasks to the team
  • Participating in preparation of quality assessments, reports, and metrics in steering board meetings
  • Evaluating requirements and defining testing objectives
  • Identifying project risks and escalation
  • Demand Management for his or her responsible area
  • Leading test quality improvements and effectiveness by working with the Development and Program Management to prevent problems and ensure that products can be tested effectively
  • Working with Project Managers to resolve schedule, resource, cost, quality tradeoffs with quality and business objectives in mind
  •  Acting as the main liaison communicating between the team as well as the rest of the internal and external organization
  • Cooperating with other managers in the organization to maximize the success of the Independent Test Practice

Knowledge, Capabilities and Experience

  • Knowledge of all aspects of the software engineering process and in-depth comprehension of software test life cycle
  • Proven experience in a wide variety of testing efforts, techniques and tools
  • Excellence people skills, especially diplomacy and advocacy capabilities  
  • Skillful in planning, managing, and problem solving
  • Proficient in influencing and negotiating with stakeholders for the Quality of Deliverables under pressure from schedule and cost perspective
  • Strong working knowledge of Scope and Change management process as a custodian of quality
  • Good negotiation qualities in order to sell testing concepts and processes for implementation
  • Strong presentation and organization skills


  1. Overall experience: 10+ years and preferred 5+ years in testing
  2. ISTQB certification as test manager
  3. College/university degree with a major in Computer Science and/or Business Informatics
  4. Fluency in English
